Syllabus Information

1. General information

The general objective of the General and Descriptive Physiology subject is that students learn the basics of the functioning of the human body and apply this knowledge to acquire a complete and integrated understanding of the human body in a state of health and how changes can lead to pathologies. The students will develop competences related to the recognition of normal or changing signs of health and the search for information, its critical analysis, writing and communication of scientific contents preparing them for self-learning and health education.

These approaches and objectives are aligned with the next Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) of the United Nations Agenda 2030 ( https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/es/), in such a way that the acquisition of the learning results of the subject provides training and competence to contribute to some extent to its achievement: Goal 3: Health and Wellness.

2. Learning results

To be able to analyse how the human being is a unit and as such, the control systems are such in the whole economy To be able to analyse the relationship functions between the different organs, apparatus and systems.

To be able to understand and develop the anabolic and catabolic processes involved in the vital processes of health and disease and relate them to the key processes of intermediary metabolism.

To be able to know the normal functioning of organs, apparatus and systems.

3. Syllabus

1. THEORETICAL PROGRAM

MODULE I.

CHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF THE HUMAN BEING: Enzymology and metabolism

MODULE II.

THEMATIC BLOCK I. Blood and cardiovascular physiology

THEMATIC BLOCK II. Respiratory physiology

THEMATIC BLOCK III. Renal physiology and body fluids

THEMATIC BLOCK IV. Digestive physiology

THEMATIC BLOCK V. Endocrine physiology

THEMATIC BLOCK VI. Neurophysiology

The order in which the contents are taught may be modified according to the circumstances and organizational needs of the center

2. PRACTICAL PROGRAM

The practical seminars will be related to the contents of the subject:

- Study of metabolism

- Examination of the Nervous System

- Cardiovascular examination

- Respiratory examination

- Blood study

- Effects of physical exercise on cardiovascular activity

The content of the practices may be modified depending on the availability of materials and space.

4. Academic activities

Participative master class: Theoretical sessions in which the contents of the subject will be explained (85h) Practices: Laboratory practices (15h). In small groups.

Tutoring: Direct attention to students. Identification of learning problems. Guidance on the subject.

5. Assessment system

Multiple-choice test (85% of the final grade)

Mastery of the contents will be an asset. Each test will consist of 50 questions, each with 5 answers of which only one answer will be correct, . In the event that the answer is incorrect, it will be graded negatively. Three incorrect questions will correspond to 1 negative point. A 5 will be required to pass the exam.

A midterm exam will be conducted. If the score grade is 5 or higher than 5, the student will only have to take the second midterm exam in June.

Evaluation in June: each test of 50 multiple-choice questions will be evaluated from 0 to 10 and the final result will be obtained from the sum of the grades of all the tests taken (1 and 2 midterm) and the calculation of their

arithmetic average, taking into account that if the grade is less than or equal to 4 in any of the tests, the overall test will be considered as not passed. It will be considered essential to obtain at least a grade of 5 in the theoretical part in order to be able to add the practical part grade.

The grade will correspond to 85% of the final grade.

Evaluation in July: it will consist of a 50-question exam of the entire subject. Each question will have 5

answer options of which only one will be correct. In the event that the answer is incorrect, it will be graded negatively. Three incorrect questions will correspond to 1 negative point. A 5 will be required to pass the exam. It will be considered essential to obtain at least a grade of 5 in the theoretical part in order to be able to add the grade of the practices. The exam grade will correspond to 85% of the final grade.

Continuous evaluation of participation in practices (15% of the final grade)

Attendance, presentation of work or assignments, active participation, ability to work in groups and taking advance of the knowledge will be valued. Practices are mandatory and must be completed in order to pass the subject. They will be graded from 0 to 10. The grade obtained will correspond to 15% of the final grade.

In the case of not having done them or if 30% of the practices have been missed, it will be necessary to take an exam on the content of the practices in order to pass the course. This exam will be taken together with the exam of the theoretical content of the subject . The grade obtained will correspond to 15% of the final grade.

In the evaluation and activities, the characteristics of the center where the degree is taught will be taken into account for Huesca and Teruel, always ensuring the acquisition of competencies.
